Niccolò Perotti, a 15th-century humanist, wrote the Cornucopia as a set of commentaries on Martial's epigrams, and in doing so created a sort of corrolary or dictionary of references. Nearly every word in Martial is explored and explained in Perotti. The first 150 pages are an index; from p 163 on is the prose text, set in two columns of italic type on folio pages – a beautifully printed, enormous book of 880 pages.
